The ‘Behind the Smile’ is a focused training and awareness event designed for female client focused businesses, such as hairdressers and beauticians.
Many people experiencing domestic abuse do not always disclose what is happening to them, but trusted professionals, especially in female focused business areas are often in unique positions where they may notice subtle changes in their clients; signs or symptoms indicating that an individual may need help or someone to talk too.
This session will help you:
- Recognise subtle and non-physical signs of domestic abuse and coercive control
- Understand how physical or psychological abuse may present in clients
- Learn how to have safe, supportive conversations
- Gain knowledge of appropriate support services and referral pathways
- Understand the importance of safe and trusted environments, such as salons and treatment spaces etc.
- This is a valuable opportunity to build awareness, confidence, and practical knowledge that could make a real difference in someone’s life.
This event is being delivered in partnership by PSNI, Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, PCSP, Women’s Aid and ASSIST.
